I lost my mother many years ago to cancer.
While recently on a cruise to Iceland I was sitting on the upper deck in the late afternoon sun, reading my kindle and occasionally glancing out across the waves. From the corner of my eye I noticed what was obviously a mother and daughter on holiday together. The sun was setting and they were leaning over the railings and chatting and laughing. I found the scene very moving. So when I got home I decided to do a lino of the pair as a homage to mothers and daughters – the good and the bad times. Here’s what I came up with. The piece is entitled ‘Cruising’. It is my birth-day today so its seems very fitting to post this.
