There’s the most amazing Chagall mosaic in the centre of Chicago. Four Seasons is a 1974 mosaic by Marc Chagall located inChase Tower Plaza in Chicago, Illinois. It is wrapped around four sides of a 70 feet (21 m) long, 14 feet (4.3 m) high, 10 feet (3.0 m) wide rectangular box. It depicts six vibrant scenes that celebrate Chicago across the four seasons.

Four Seasons was designed in his studio in France and collaborated with skilled mosaicists to transform his drawings into 128 panels composed of thousands of hand-chipped stone and glass fragments in over 250 colours. He employed his signature floating figures technique creating unrealistic imagery where elements appear to float across the sky.
Materials were sourced from around the world, including marble from Belgium and Italy, Granite from Norway and Brittany, and stained glass from Venice and Paris. The panels were assembled in Chicago by Italian mosaicist Lino Melano, assisted by Michel Tharin, under Chagall’s supervision. The mosaic underwent significant restoration in 1994.
